A few common questions

Navigating support can feel unfamiliar. Here are answers to common questions about how we begin and what working together looks like.

Fees & insurance

Simple, transparent pricing.

I keep fees clear and straightforward and I'm always happy to talk them through on our first call. Here's what to expect.

How much do sessions cost?
Couples and individual sessions are $250 each. Family sessions for three or more people are $300. A standard session runs about 50–60 minutes.

Is the first call really free?
Yes. Every couple starts with a free 20-minute phone consultation, no cost and no commitment, just a chance to talk through what's going on and see whether we're the right fit.

Do you charge GST?
No. Psychological services are GST-exempt in Alberta.

Will my insurance cover it?
Often, yes, in part or in full. Many employee benefit plans and private insurance policies cover services provided by a Registered Psychologist. It's worth checking your specific plan to see what's included. Many clients are also able to claim psychological services on their personal taxes, your accountant can advise.

How and when do I pay?
Payment is due at the time of each session, by credit card or e-transfer. I'll give you a receipt you can submit to your insurer or keep for tax purposes.

How soon can I get in?

I can usually see you for a first appointment within 7–10 days, and for evening virtual sessions, sometimes sooner. My typical hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with evening and weekend appointments available on request.

Do you offer in-person and virtual sessions?

Both. I see couples in person at my Calgary office, and virtually for those who prefer it or live elsewhere in Alberta. Most people start in person if they can, but the choice is yours.

How do I prepare for the first session?

Once you've booked, I'll send you intake and informed-consent forms to complete ahead of time — it saves time in our first session. Bring them along (or complete them online) and we'll review them together.

How do we get started?

Either book the free call and we'll figure out the right fit together, or reach out with a question first. From there, we set your goals in that first session and build from there.
